A reduction in contrast and twilight vision is an early sign of cataracts, as well as other eye diseases. The examination helps in making the decision for cataract surgery at the right time. Sufficient contrast and twilight vision is also a prerequisite for obtaining a driver’s license. The testing device we use (Oculus Mesotest®) meets all legal requirements for all driver’s license classes (see ophthalmological driver’s license examination).
