Professional Background

Born on February 2, 1979, in Graz. Medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the Karl Franzens University of Graz (1997–2003) completed in the minimum study period, with several merit scholarships. A scholarship abroad also enabled a year of study at the Università degli Studi di Firenze.
From 2003, specialist training in ophthalmology and optometry at the University Eye Clinic Graz, with early specializations in neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmic oncology. Surgical specialization in eyelid surgery within the plastic-reconstructive field and in tumor surgery.
After completing specialist training, head of the neuro-ophthalmology department at the University Eye Clinic Graz, additionally serving as coordinator of student teaching and senior physician in the diabetes clinic, the clinic for macular diseases, as well as in the emergency and general outpatient clinic.
Clinical observerships and further training, including at the neuro-ophthalmology clinic of the AKH Vienna (2013) and at the University Eye Clinic Tübingen (2018), served to deepen expertise and international networking.

Establishment of an Austrian Reference Center

Under her leadership, the neuro-ophthalmology clinic at the University Eye Clinic Graz was expanded into a reference center in Austria and accepted as an Affiliated Partner in the European Reference Network (ERN) of the European Union. Very few facilities in Austria hold this recognition. Patients with unclear findings, lack of therapeutic success at other facilities, or a need for a sound second opinion will find clarification here at a level that is otherwise only available at university specialist clinics.

Scientific Activity

Involvement in numerous research projects since 2003, with publications in international specialist journals as well as national and international lectures. Since 2023, co-director of the eyeside group practice together with Priv.-Doz. Dr. Werner Wackernagel; additionally remains scientifically active within the framework of ERN cooperation at the European level.
