A visual field examination is regularly required for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma. Furthermore, it is necessary when there is suspicion of changes in the course of the visual pathway (the optic nerve and in the brain) in cases of inflammatory diseases, or when a stroke is suspected or needs to be ruled out.
