The SVS has included the OCT examination in its catalog of benefits. SVS policyholders therefore do not need to handle the billing themselves. For other statutory insurance providers, you unfortunately still have to pay for the OCT examination yourself and then submit it for reimbursement. An OCT examination using the Heidelberg Spectralis OCT costs 80 euros. You will receive an invoice including the diagnosis and the justification for its necessity. You can submit this to your health insurance provider for reimbursement. We are also happy to submit the invoice to the health insurance provider on your behalf. The amount of reimbursement varies from one insurance provider to another. The BVAEB and KFA reimburse almost the full amount; however, depending on the diagnosis, this is limited to once every 90 days (for wet AMD) or every 180 days (for dry AMD and glaucoma). Other insurance providers (ÖGK) only reimburse a partial amount. In cases of social hardship, we waive our fee in whole or in part.
